Water Eject Shortcut for iPhone: How to Add & Use It
The Water Eject Shortcut is a popular iPhone automation that plays a low tone to clear water from the speaker. Here is how to install and run it — or skip the setup and use the tool below right now.
No time to set up a Shortcut?
The player above does the same job as the Water Eject Shortcut: it plays a 165 Hz water-ejection tone through your iPhone speaker. Turn off Silent mode, set volume to max, point the speaker down and tap play. Nothing to install.
How to add the Water Eject Shortcut on iPhone
- Make sure the Shortcuts app is installed (it comes with iOS 13 and later; reinstall it free from the App Store if you deleted it).
- In Safari, open a trusted shortcut-sharing site (such as RoutineHub or the Shortcuts Gallery community) and search for “Water Eject”. Check the author, reviews and the actions it contains before installing.
- Tap Get Shortcut, which opens the Shortcuts app, then tap Add Shortcut.
- If iOS says untrusted shortcuts aren’t allowed: on recent iOS versions, shared iCloud shortcuts install without changing any setting. On older iOS, go to Settings → Shortcuts → Allow Untrusted Shortcuts (you need to have run at least one shortcut first).
Always review what a shared shortcut does before you add it. A Water Eject shortcut should only need to set volume and play a sound — be wary of any that ask for contacts, location or network access.
How to run the Water Eject Shortcut
- From the Shortcuts app: tap the Water Eject tile, then tap Begin Water Ejection.
- With Siri: say “Hey Siri, Water Eject” (or the shortcut’s exact name).
- From the Home Screen: in the Shortcuts app, tap ··· on the shortcut → Share (or the info icon) → Add to Home Screen.
- From the Action button (iPhone 15 Pro and later): Settings → Action Button → Shortcut → choose Water Eject.
- From Control Center (iOS 18 and later): add a Shortcut control and choose Water Eject.
Water Eject Shortcut not working?
- No sound: Silent mode is on, or volume is low. Turn Silent off and raise the volume.
- “Shortcut can’t be opened”: the link is outdated or iCloud link sharing is broken. Use a different, recently updated version — or simply use the tool above.
- Still muffled after running it: run it 2–3 times, let the iPhone dry speaker-down for a few hours, and see our iPhone speaker cleaner guide.
